Ma Ron, also known as the "The Gentleman", is a former 5000-Man Commander of the Qin Military and the last surviving commander of the Kan Ki Army. He was once the closet advisor to Great General Kan Ki of the Six Great Generals before he was killed by the Ri Boku Army during the Battle of Hika. After Kan Ki's death, he was tasked by his late leader to look after the remaining survivors of their army while trying his hand to be mercenaries.

Appearance[]

Ma Ron wears military armor akin to the Kan Ki Army's and has a warriors' build. In between the aftermath of the Coalition Invasion Arc and the State of Ai Arc, he grew a mustache. He has long dark hair and a long black tattoo on his face.

Personality[]

Ma Ron is a well-spoken and polite man despite his background as a former bandit leader, often speaking in a respectful tone unlike the rest of his comrades and leader. He carries himself with dignity and can be annoyingly pompous, which can greatly annoy others, as this is evident as far back in his youth. He is also often sarcastic with his remarks, usually playing the role of a straight man amongst the Kan Ki Army's commanders. Aside from this, he is incredibly cunning and sly, having used his abilities to become a deadly bandit leader of a fierce clan despite his somewhat weak martial prowess. However, beneath all that Ma Ron can be emotional as he cares deeply and greatly about his comrades, having cried when he and the others found Rai Do's remains and nearly went to Kan Ki's side in order to join him in his last stand against the Zhao and cried after hearing about Kan Ki's real feeling towards him and his comrades. Ma Ron also takes no pleasure in killing or gratification in torturing others, unlike Kan Ki, even feeling remorseful in his role of the massacre of Eikyuu. He is often surprised and even outright confused by his leader's decisions with him usually calling Kan Ki insane and while he is loyal to Kan Ki, he is a rational when it comes to retreating as he won't hesitate in retreating or even contemplate running away if the battle goes way from his favor. He also enjoys cooking as he usually cooked meals and dinners for his comrades with Rai Do calling his cooking the best and often makes remarks about the food and drinks, and even gave compliments to Ka Ryo Ten for delicious tea she served him.

History[]

Before meeting Kan Ki, a young Ma Ron was the bandit leader of a small band of bandits in Naka Mountain in presumably southern Qin. He and his clan operated in mountains alongside his rivals Rai Do and Koku'Ou, other young bandit leaders and their own clans.[1]

.

At some point, Ma Ron and his clan were "recruited" by Kan Ki and become a part of the Kan Ki Clan. Ma Ron would try to usurp Kan Ki's leadership as soon as he joined but would fail immediately. Kan Ki would remark about these events as he considered that his only mistake in life was not beating Ma Ron to death and sparing him. [2]

Story[]

Sanyou Campaign Arc[]

Ma Ron is with Kan Ki during the Sanyou Campaign under Great General Mou Gou.

Coalition Invasion Arc[]

At the Battle of Kankoku Pass, he is positioned alongside Kan Ki at the right-hand tower. He seems rather surprised by his boss making Ogiko a 1000-Man Commander just because he finds it funny. Later, he seems to be shocked when Koku'Ou tells him they "acquired" oil from Kanyou's warehouses.

Koku You Campaign Arc[]

During the Battle of Koku You Hill, he is in charge of the battlefield on the left side of the main hill. When he receives the order to retreat from Kan Ki, he follows the order without hesitation, but in the commander meeting in the evening he tells Kan Ki, that he better have a good reason for them to retreat.

Western Zhao Invasion Arc[]

Ma Ron served as Kan Ki's adjutant. He believes that the campaign will fail and often argues with Rai Do who thinks otherwise. He also serves as a cook.

Battle of Eikyuu Arc[]

During the Battle of Eikyuu, Ma Ron serves as the main strategist. He visits Ou Hon and the commanders of the Gyoku Hou Army's HQ and campgrounds as they watch the injured Qin soldiers return from the Eikyuu battlefield. Ma Ron, with orders from Kan Ki himself, instructs them to attack Eikyuu. On the 10th day, when multiple clans and units of the Kan Ki Army started deserting the battlefield, he considered deserting himself but was stopped by Kan Ki's sudden visit to his HQ. Kan Ki shares the plan with him, which convinces him to stay, but Ma Ron is still weary.

Later after Kan Ki kills and takes Zhao Great General Ko Chou's head, Ma Ron is placed in charge of spreading false information to the remaining Zhao soldiers in order to make them surrender, which turns out to be a great success. After spreading the false information, he rushes to speak with Kan Ki with the other commanders. He, Koku'Ou, and Rin Gyoku discover Rai Do's mutilated body in a box and are shocked about the revelation of his death. Ma Ron is afflicted when Kan Ki decides to execute 100,000 prisoners in retaliation for Rai Do's death.
